Random sketching is the best kind of sketching. I teach myself more from just drawing random things that pop into my head mixed with structured drawings I attempt to recreate, then beating my brains out and destroying my erasers doing an organized piece. Not saying that you shouldn't do organized work, but when you just want to have fun or test a style or idea out, it's the way to go. Not that any of this really matters or that it's anything people don't already know, it just gives me a sense of self-importance.
